Yaaay Back to work I GoπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ

I am grateful to be opening my shop back up next Tuesday, I can’t tell y’all ALL of just how GOOD GOD HAS BEEN TO ME AND MY FAMILY during this horrible virus and I will continue to THANK AND GIVE GOD ALL THE PRAISE, HONOR AND GLORY THAT’S DUE HIS NAME for keeping and carrying usπŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ’–πŸ’–When I had to close the door of my salon I trusted God with all of the “uncertainty” but I knew WHO IS CERTAIN AND THAT’S THE ALMIGHTY AND EVERLASTING GOD, that’s who I put my trust in no matter how it looks or what chatter is going on in the background. If we didn’t know who our source was before this, I’m sure some of us found out who that source is no matter how it showed up and in the knick of time in a MAJOR WAYπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ I have seen for myself and heard of some great and miraculous blessing of how God showed up and showed out in the Mighty name of Jesus and is still blessingπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ Don’t let people belittle (only miserable and little people belittle others) what the Lord has done for you and in you during this time and will continue to perfect those things concerning youπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ Keep trusting God, keep going, don’t give up or give out!!! My prayers are with all that are dealing with the virus and have lost loved ones. Through some of my roughest times I had to speak to my spirit man and say God is still good even when I don’t understand what’s going on. God will pull you through whatever you may be facing or going through, it may not look like it, but He will if you have faith the size of a mustard seed. Somebody called me the google Queen🀣🀣, I hollered 🀣but if you don’t know what a mustard seed is google it and that little small seed is all the faith you need to see a mountain moved or your situation pushed into the sea or your situation healed, paid, moved out your way..etc but anywhoo I’m trusting God alllllll the wayπŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ’–πŸ’–

My 1st Podcast on hair loss in young African American women

As a cosmetologist I have been seeing alarming trends that are destroying the hair lines of African American young women. So I decided to lend my voice to this issue using Anchor.fm. These are my opinions based upon my experiences with the after effects of the hair loss. Would love for you to listen to my podcast. Thank you!!

I Graduated, I did itπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒ

Well yeah I graduated waaaay back in 2015 and still trying to figure out what to do with the degree…. How do I transition from a career I’ve been in over 20 years of which I love into another career. That is my dilemma….. but this was a Awesome day filled with joy, accomplishment, and lots of family and friends love…..and food of course……

I met a 92 year young African American Rosie the Riveter!

I would like to wish everyone that has fought to keep America safe A happy Memorial Day!!

I had the pleasure of doing a clients hair that is 92 years young. To see her at 92 with a head full of thick hair that she prefers to be dyed “as black as I can get it” was a joy. I laughed when she said this:) At 92 she is in her right mind, hears very good and walks better than 5 people that I know, including myself. She is sharp witted, loves to laugh and tells jokes. It is always a pleasure to see her and her daughter interact with each other. Her daughter is a awesome history buff and I think she should be a professor at some fine higher learning institution. That’s my opinion though:) While getting her hair styled, my 92 year old African American client says ” I bet I done something y’all aint done before” So I said “I didn’t hear you” and she repeated what she said. So I said “what’s that?” She said “I built planes.” When she said this one of my other clients, which is a retired school teacher, just went wild and said “you a Rosie? She said this with much awe, respect, honor and amazement. I am almost shame to say that I had never heard of a Rosie or Rosie the Riveter, but during WWII, my 92-year-old client went to California and worked on planes used in the war. My client that is the retired school teacher began to tell me of the great importance of Ms. Fan along with other women and her contribution to the war that was won with the help of African-Americans that have gone unnoticed for the work they contributed to the war. Listening to Ms. Fan who stands not quite 5 feet, tell me how “she could do it!” She was referring to the rivets they had to drill into the planes. As I have read different stories online about the tools the women used, the riveter was a heavy tool to use and to hear my client say “she could do it” gave me pride and joy of the strength that still lives in her at 92.

My client the retired school teacher was almost in tears as she spoke with Ms. Fan about her experience. She believes that everyone needs to hear her story and I agree that she should be honored along with all the other Rosie the Riveters in the world today. I am sad to see that there are so few pictures of African-American Rosie’s. I would love for Ms. Fan to tell her story everywhere but it is her decisionΒ and I respect her wishes. I could only give my account of learning that I had history sitting in my chair. We then began to think, How many more African-Americans in the age ranges of mid to late 80’s and 90’s are still on earth but holding their stories?

Best Grandma ever

Your name means,Β

New Moon,

Surely God broke the mold,

When He made you,

Best granny a girl,could have.

+++++++++++++++++++
You gave so much to your children,
grandchildren,great grans, friends, and coworkers,
You instilled, uplifted, and cut down,
You got down on levels when,
You had to.

++++++++++++++++++++++
You covered many when others,
Turned their heads,
You birthed 7 children,
Raised them all with family help,
You struggled,triumphed,hurt, loved,
Overcame, smiled, cried,worried,lived,
You buried 2 grandchildren,
This took the life out of you,
You grieved for years,
I felt your hearts hurt,
A mothers, grandmothers hurt,
But you rose from this,
You taught us how to go through,
When life challenges hit you.

+++++++++++++++++++++++
You found God,
Realized you had never been alone,
Realized God was there with you,
When you thought you were,
Raising your kids alone,
You cared for everyone,
Made great friends,
You loved in such a way,
People are still saying great things about you,
I smile and can only agree with them,
So glad you were my granny:)By taradurham39@gmail.com

Waves and Pin Curls

I love my job and the clients that are always pushing me to try something new. This client here has really long hair but likes to wear it up. I love pin curls and waves because I feel they are classic and timeless. They will forever be in style in my opinion:)
